What's up, everybody? Welcome to the new episode of the p w podcast. As always, I'm your host, Peter Widom. You can find me and the podcast at peterwitham.com. This episode is talking about reaching those end of year goals.
Peter:I have shipped all of the updates and new apps that I wanted to get done by this point in the year, which is actually a bit of a miracle because rarely does that happen. I would like to get one final update out for one of my apps, my Job Finder Tracker app and we'll see how that goes. It's not urgent but I would like to get it off the books ready to start next year. Now the important thing about that is because I've got I've shipped my new app, I sent out the first update that it needed to fix a minor problem, I've shipped updates to my games, and I'm still working on one of those games that's not public yet, but it well, it's kind of public, I guess, but it's not shipped. And it feels good.
Peter:The reason it feels good is not only to get those check boxes off the to do lists, but also because it frees me up to think about new things or, you know, wind down for the end of the year and things that I wanted to play with or investigate or try out that just didn't really have time to do for the rest of the year, which is usually how I like to sort of end the last quarter of the year, which is again just feels really good to get that pressure done. What I'm hoping is that it also gives me a chance to start planning for next year. I'm kind of one of those people that by the time it gets to December, I like to sort of start thinking about next year a bit, putting down some loose ideas and just, you know, hey, wouldn't it be great next year if I did x y z or read this or wrote that or, you know, whatever it may be. And for me, it's it's kinda therapeutic, especially as the weather here in Texas cools off. I don't know what it is, but something about the cooler, wet, damp, fall weather really puts me in the right mind to be creative.
Peter:So much so that, in fact, you know, I got the camera gear out, reminded myself how all of that works, looking forward to taking some photographs and getting excited about that. It just think it's a case of you get through the summer where it's hot, miserable. You gotta go to work. It's your hot. You do a day's work.
Peter:You come home in the heat and the traffic, and you just don't feel like, oh, you know. I'm sure you will know what that's like. So as we get to this point in the year, I kind of kick into a whole other gear where it's like, great. The creative part of my brain is kicking in, and let's go have some fun with stuff. So I'm gonna be doing a lot of that.
Peter:I don't tend to share my photography online anymore. I just don't see the point, really. My photography is, for the most part, unless I was doing it for a client, has always been for me anyway. So, you know, there's that to play with. But also maybe thinking about a few little trips that, hey, may turn into some kind of photo discovery or something.
Peter:You never know. But anyway, it's just a great point in the year for me to reach here and get all this done and just to relax. And and I hope that it's kinda going that way for you, all of you out there. I I just couldn't face the holiday season with the pressure of a mountain of things to get done. That to me just seems horrifying, and I really enjoy this part of the year and the holiday season, so it's important for me to relax and catch up on those things when I feel like doing them.
Peter:And like I say, a lot of new ideas come to me as well that I just again put down on pen and paper you know me, pens and paper everywhere right? So anyway just putting that out there just feels good I hope you're all doing the same and I will speak to you in the next episode
